Well, that was a refreshing experience; it seems so long since I last installed a new version of Internet Explorer for some reason... The final release of Internet Explorer 7 is now available for download.

Without getting into debates about the relative merits of Firefox/Opera/Safari/Lynx, IE7 is an important release as it will be used by a large proportion of the browsing public.

If you have a technical interest in IE7, be aware it may be on desktops sooner than you expect; Alun Jones (a Security MVP I met briefly through scottymcleod) has an interesting post that points out the difference between a security update and a high-priority update. The upshot is that IE7 is likely to be pushed out on November 1st, rather than Patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of the month) as you might have expected.

(With apologies for the typos in the previous version of this comment.)

Not that I use it but I wish there was a mac version of IE higher than 5.2.3 so that I could test stuff on it without having to upload, crank up my host's seriously win-rotted PC and wait for IE to do its thing.

Of course there's no guarantee that IE on the PC would render exactly the same as it would on the mac, even assuming a V7 (which will only ever exist in the foetid imaginations of me and my fellow macficionados) and of course, I am a complete newbie at the CSS/raw HTML lark!
