Well, that was a refreshing experience; it seems so long since I last installed a new version of Internet Explorer for some reason... The final release of Internet Explorer 7 is now available for download.

Without getting into debates about the relative merits of Firefox/Opera/Safari/Lynx, IE7 is an important release as it will be used by a large proportion of the browsing public.

If you have a technical interest in IE7, be aware it may be on desktops sooner than you expect; Alun Jones (a Security MVP I met briefly through scottymcleod) has an interesting post that points out the difference between a security update and a high-priority update. The upshot is that IE7 is likely to be pushed out on November 1st, rather than Patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of the month) as you might have expected.
