I Am Not An Extremist

Having had a rant a couple of weeks ago about the inappropriate use of the word “extremist” to describe people who believe in democratic politics, it’s depressing to have the opportunity to point out where the label properly applies (Warning: Sunday Express). Whether they’re genuine Scottish bampots (seems more likely since their heid bummers are in jail) or not, it’s safe to say that they have, statistically speaking at least, no support from anyone on either side of the debate.

However, we warn the British Government that, should they seek to deny, limit, or interfere with the Scottish people‘s legitimate right to national self-determination, we shall resume activities with a vengeance.

So they accept that Westminster is the British (i.e. English, Welsh and Scottish) government - and hence tacitly legitimise it? Surely a first step towards coherency would have been to label Westminster, in so far as it does things in Scotland (and perhaps Wales), illegitimate – by calling it the ‘English‘/‘occupying‘ or something else that implies it has no right to interfere with Scotland‘s ‘national self-determination'.

However, such illiterate idiots may help the Scottish independence cause by increasing anti-Scottish feelings south of the border. I‘m sure that many folk down south would want to get rid of Scotland and its perceived whinging, ideally (in their view) by digging a bloody great moat between the two ‘nations’. I can't see the SNLA‘ mouth-frothing reducing that sentiment.

Personally, I‘m not so concerned about what settlement comes out of this as I am about whether there will be sensible people keeping the machinery of (both) state(s) running well, after the dust has settled on this round. If idiots like this get into power, we‘re all doomed.

Luckily, I think that's unlikely.

It depends on their definition of British. I think the SNLA and their ilk consider Britain to be Wales/England, Great Britain to be the name of the state formed after 1707 and UK as GB and NI etc.

They refer to anyone who is a unionist or not a rabid Scottish Nationalist as a "Brit" and mean it as a perjorative term.
